Black Friday: Review FlexiSpot Ergonomic Office Chair BS13

When you have a job that requires you to sit behind a desk for extended periods of time, the posture you adopt is determined by how you sit on the chair. A bad sitting posture can have a major impact on the comfort you experience and can also cause serious complaints. That is why ergonomic chairs play an increasingly important role in the design of our workspace. In this review we take a closer look at the Flexispot Backsupport 13 (BS13) ergonomic chair.

With the BS13, FlexiSpot supplies an ergonomic (office) chair with excellent comfort and a modern design. We will discuss this further in the subheadings below.

Chair Assembly

The assembly of FlexiSpot’s BackSupport 13 (BS13) office chair is quite simple. It only took us about half an hour to assemble everything by following the super simple instructions.

In total there are 6 parts, namely the backrest including the seat, 2x the arms, metal legs, the gas spring and castors. To screw everything together you get all the necessities such as all the necessary screws and the necessary Allen key. For the entire assembly you only need to tighten about 8 screws: easy peasy. 4 screws are used to secure the armrests and 4 screws are used to connect the chair to the base.

Design, Features & Comfort

The ergonomic office chair has a beautiful design with some nice features. The chair features a 3D elastic mesh system with a triangular pattern in it. The fabric is somewhat transparent and in practice ensures that you do not get any sweating problems.

The armrests have an automatic height adjustment system. This means that their height can be easily adjusted by simply grabbing them and sliding them up or down. They will then automatically stay informed where you put them. It is worth mentioning that this system works slightly differently than with ‘traditional’ armrests. It may therefore take some time to get used to the system. However, once you get used to it, it works well. It is also worth mentioning that the armrests are unfortunately not 3D adjustable. You can raise and lower them, but the function is limited to that. The armrests also have some slack. This need not be seen as a problem, but it is worth mentioning.

We opted for the black BS13

There is a back support at the back of the back of the office chair. You can easily adjust the location where it is in your back by sliding it up or down. In practice, it adjusts the curvature of the back, forcing you to maintain a correct posture. With the chair you automatically have a better sitting posture.

At the bottom of the seat you will in turn find the ‘traditional’ levers, with which you can adjust the height of the ergonomic office chair, among other things. The height can be adjusted from approximately 94 cm to 105 cm and the inclination of the chair can be adjusted from 105 degrees to 125 degrees. The office chair can hold a maximum of 150 kilograms.

A somewhat curious circle at the bottom gives you the chance to adjust the tension of the backrest. Although this seems like a small adjustment, it is very useful when you are sitting on the chair for longer.

The office chair belongs to a premium product. If you are not used to an ergonomic chair, it can certainly take some getting used to the ‘new’ position in which you are forced.

However, the chair is designed to sit for hours and offers good comfort. Due to the correct posture in which you are forced, as it were, you will have fewer (back) complaints at the end of the day.

Although being able to support your head gives us a sense of comfort, the truth is that in many cases we adopt a less ergonomic position from an ergonomic point of view. By avoiding the entire headrest, this incorrect posture is also immediately avoided.

The price of the chair is perhaps the only downside here; with a price of € 699.99, this is not one of the cheapest chairs, but certainly not one of the most expensive.

Pros and cons

Advantages

  • Beautiful design;
  • Good build quality;
  • Adjustable backrest support;
  • Sufficient setting options;
  • The wheels of the chair roll very nicely;
  • Perfect ergonomic sitting position;
  • 3D fabric pattern is nice and cool in summer.

Cons

  • The chair is quite pricey and therefore not suitable for all budgets;
  • Armrest cannot be adjusted in 3D;
  • Armrest has a little play.

Conclusion

The ergonomic BS13 office chair from FlexiSpot is a premium product. It is a very solid chair that forces you to adopt a correct posture. The chair also offers enough comfort to sit on it for long days without any problems.

If you have not sat on an ergonomic chair before, it may take some getting used to in the beginning. However, you get used to this relatively quickly. The chair is therefore definitely recommended. However, we recognize that the price of the chair is not for everyone. This is perhaps the biggest disadvantage of the office chair.
