Bihar Offers ₹4 Crore Subsidy for Films Shooting 75% in State, Bhojpuri Movie Sanghatiya May Benefit

Bihar is quietly becoming the new darling of filmmakers. Its ancient sites, rural landscapes, and riverside towns have caught the attention of both Bollywood and international crews. The state’s “Film Promotion Policy 2024” is drawing them in—offering subsidies, streamlined permits, and even police protection for shoots.

Since the policy went live on July 19, 2024, 11 projects have gotten the green light. That includes a web series, a documentary, and films in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Maithili, and even English. The Bihar Film Development and Finance Corporation is handling the rollout, and the buzz is real.

Big Names, Big Sets

AR Murugadoss, the brains behind hits like Ghajini and Darbar, is currently shooting Madrasi in Bihar. Over in Valmiki Nagar, a massive set is being built for Sagar Shrivastava’s upcoming project.

The Subsidy Game

Bihar’s government isn’t holding back. They’re offering up to ₹4 crore—the highest incentive among Indian states—for films with 75% of their shoot done locally. Vinay Jha and Abhishek Chauhan’s Bhojpuri film Sanghatiya, fresh off production, might be the first to cash in.

No flashy press releases, just steady progress. Bihar’s playing the long game, and filmmakers are taking notice.
