US President Joe Biden is on a visit to the UK. He went to Britain on Sunday local time. It is said that during this visit, he will meet the British King Charles III and the country’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
According to an AFP report, Air Force One carrying Biden landed at Stansted Airport, north of London, on Sunday evening local time.
He will meet King Charles III at Windsor Castle on Monday. Biden is going to meet Charles for the first time after the coronation. Biden did not attend the coronation. However, US First Lady Jill Biden attended the event.
It is reported that Biden will meet with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at 10 Downing Street. The White House said in a statement that they will discuss environmental issues.
President Biden is visiting Europe mainly with the upcoming NATO conference in mind. Western allies are expected to discuss helping Ukraine to oust Russia’s military.
In an interview given to CNN on Sunday, President Biden said that the inclusion of Ukraine in NATO now means the start of NATO’s war against Russia.
Biden said NATO is committed to defending any member country under Article 5 attack.
“In any case, it’s a commitment that we all made together,” he said. If the war is going on it means we are all at war. Now Ukraine joining NATO means our war against Russia.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan supported Ukraine’s demand to join NATO.
