Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 35-year-old fast bowler has played for several teams in the IPL, including RCB, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Pune Warriors. He made his IPL debut in 2011 with RCB and has taken 154 wickets in 146 matches.
A Fan Before Being a Player
In a recent interview with YouTuber Ranvir Allahbadia, Bhuvneshwar revealed that he supported Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the inaugural IPL season simply because of their owner, Shah Rukh Khan. “I supported KKR, just because of Shah Rukh Khan,” Bhuvneshwar said. He met Shah Rukh Khan and described their interaction as normal. Shah Rukh asks how they’re doing, and they talk about their lives. Bhuvneshwar praised Shah Rukh’s humility, noting that despite being a superstar, he interacts with everyone normally.
Meeting a Legend
When Ranvir asked Bhuvneshwar about his experience with Shah Rukh Khan, he said, “He asks how we are, we have normal conversations.” Bhuvneshwar added that Shah Rukh is very down-to-earth and doesn’t show off his celebrity status. Ranvir also asked if players feel starstruck when they meet Shah Rukh, and Bhuvneshwar confirmed that they do. Some of Shah Rukh’s popular films include Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Koyla, Ram Jaane, and Duplicate.
Bhuvneshwar’s journey from a KKR fan to an RCB player is an interesting one. He started his IPL career with RCB and played for them in the Champions T20 League before making his IPL debut with the team in 2025. He has since played for other teams but is now back with RCB. His experience and skills continue to make him a valuable player in the league.
