Artur Beterbiev’s Thoughts on Oleksandr Usyk and the Heavyweight Division
Artur Beterbiev, the undisputed light heavyweight champion, has expressed his thoughts on a potential fight against Oleksandr Usyk. Unlike some other fighters, Beterbiev is not eager to jump up two weight classes to face Usyk, citing the Ukrainian’s strength as a major concern.
Avoiding a Fight with Usyk
Beterbiev, who has a 21-0 record with 20 KOs, believes that facing Usyk would not be a good idea. “There will not be a fight with Usyk. He is too strong for me,” he stated in an interview with Fight Hub TV. Beterbiev also mentioned that he would only consider fighting Usyk if the Ukrainian were to come down to his division again.
Usyk’s Strength and the Heavyweight Division
Beterbiev also commented on the fight between Usyk and Tyson Fury, saying that Fury fought well. However, he expressed his disappointment that there are no big names in the heavyweight division, comparing the current state of the division to the era of Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. According to Beterbiev, Usyk and Fury are currently the best in the heavyweight division.
Upcoming Fight Against Dmitry Bivol
For now, Beterbiev is focused on his upcoming fight against Dmitry Bivol, scheduled for February 22. The Russian-Canadian fighter is aware that this will be a challenging fight, given how their first encounter developed.
