Belgian cyclist Cedric Baekeland dies at 28 after suffering a heart attack in Mallorca

The world of cycling is in mourning after the death of Belgian amateur cyclist Cedric Baekeland due to a heart attack at the age of just 28. The runner was concentrated in Mallorca with his team, the Body & Bike-BMB Boekhounding when he suffered the fainting spell that ended with the fatal outcome.

According to the Belgian medium VRT, Baekeland felt unwell on the 14th and, after warning his roommate that he wasn’t feeling well, he collapsed from his heart attack. Despite CPR maneuvers and resuscitation attempts, nothing could be done to save his life.

The team itself gave the news like this last Tuesday. “It is with great sadness that we confirm the news that was circulating out there. Our good friend and teammate Cedric Baekeland passed away last night in his sleep. Cedric was concentrating with the team in Mallorca to prepare for the start of the season. On behalf of the team, we send all our support to family and friends. Miss you”.
