BCCI’s Surprise Move: What’s Behind Bengal Cricket’s Strict New Rules

As the Indian cricket team prepares for the highly anticipated 5-match T20 series against England, scheduled to begin on January 22 at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, significant changes are being implemented to ensure the team’s success. A new set of strict rules, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), aims to enhance discipline among players. One of the key regulations mandating that all players travel by team bus exclusively has been put into effect.

Team’s New Setup: Exclusive Travel Arrangements

The primary drive behind these regulations stems from the decline in the Indian team’s performance over the past few months. Following recent losses, including a Test series against New Zealand at home and a 3-1 series defeat in Australia, the BCCI deemed it necessary to introduce these measures. The objective is to maintain player focus solely on the game.

Enforcement of New Rules by Bengal Cricket Association

Snehasish Ganguly, President of the Bengal Cricket Association, has confirmed the implementation of these rules, stating that arrangements have been made to accommodate BCCI’s guidelines. Specifically, only one team bus has been assigned for the Indian team, disallowing the use of personal vehicles for players. This is in alignment with BCCI’s emphasis on collective travel for practice sessions and matches.
