BCCI Unveils Shocking New Cricket Rules Affecting IPL Players’ Salaries

Regulating Player Participation and Conduct

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a comprehensive ’10-point policy’ aimed at promoting discipline, unity, and a positive team environment. This new policy comprises 10 essential rules that all players must adhere to. Key aspects of this policy include mandatory participation in domestic cricket tournaments and adherence to a strict code of conduct.

Domestic Cricket Participation Made Mandatory

As per the new policy, it is compulsory for all players to participate in domestic cricket tournaments organized by the BCCI. This includes the Ranji Trophy, which is scheduled to resume on January 23. Notable players such as Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal are expected to represent their respective domestic teams. However, the participation of prominent players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remains uncertain.

Consequences for Violating the Rules

Any player found violating these rules may face disciplinary action, including a salary cut, a reduction in match fees, or even a ban from the Indian Premier League (IPL). To address critical situations or problems, players are required to obtain approval from Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and the Chief Selector before taking any action.

Exceptions to the Rules

In exceptional circumstances, a player may be allowed to act outside these rules, but only with the prior approval of Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and the Chief Selector. Failure to obtain this approval will result in disciplinary action.

IPL Participation Made Compulsory

The BCCI has made it clear that participation in the IPL is mandatory for all players. Any player found violating this rule may face penalties, including a salary cut, a reduction in match fees, or an IPL ban.

The introduction of these rules aims to establish a more disciplined and cohesive team environment, ensuring that all players adhere to a uniform code of conduct.
