Zhang Xingliang, a 20-year-old basketball player, devised a plan to sneak his girlfriend into his hotel room by hiding her in a suitcase. The incident occurred on the eve of his team’s match against Qingdao. The couple documented their plan on social media, including a photo of the girlfriend inside the suitcase.
According to reports, Xingliang’s intention was to help his girlfriend, and the couple allegedly spent the night studying together. However, the girlfriend’s posts on Weibo, including videos and images, have since been deleted.
Consequences of the Action
The secret operation was quickly exposed, and the consequences have been severe. The Guangzhou Loong Lions Basketball Club announced that Xingliang would be removed from the team for upcoming games.
The club’s official statement read: “Zhang Xingliang, a player of the Guangzhou Loong Lions Basketball Club, has drawn attention for his handling of personal matters. After consulting with the club’s management and coaching staff, it was decided to exclude the player.” Xingliang has apologized for the “negative impact” of the events.
