The World Test Championship final between India and Australia will be played from June 7. The last time the Indian team had to face defeat in the final match against New Zealand. But this year, the Indian team is desperate to win its first WTC title. Meanwhile, the ICC has also announced the refereeing team for the WTC final. But the fans believe that it is bad news for the Indian team.

List of released referees

England’s Richard Illingworth and New Zealand’s Chris Gaffney will be the on-field referees for the upcoming WTC final between India and Australia in London. The ICC made this announcement on Monday. New Zealand’s Chris Gaffney and England’s Richard Illingworth have been appointed on-field referees for the WTC final, with June 12 as ‘reserve day’, the ICC announced match officials for the WTC final to be held held at The Oval from June 7-11. So that, if necessary, the time lost during the five days of play can be compensated. This will be Gaffney’s 49th Test match, while the 59-year-old Illingworth will officiate in his 64th match. Illingworth was also an umpire in the inaugural WTC final two years ago in which New Zealand won by 8 wickets over India in Southampton.

Kettlebro name included

Another English referee, Richard Kettlebrough, will also officiate at the second successive WTC final, having been appointed as a TV referee once again. Kumar Dharmasena of Sri Lanka will be the fourth official, while Richie Richardson of West Indies will be the referee for the match.

Richard Kettlebro considers himself quite unlucky from the point of view of the India team. The India team had to face defeat in any match this referee has come to referee since 2014. Kettlebrough was the on-field referee in India’s defeats in the 2014 T20 World Cup, 2015 World Cup, 2016 T20 World Cup , the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup. At the same time, Kettlebro was the TV referee including during Team India’s WTC final defeat in 2021.
