In such a situation, his visit to the gambling den must have caught the attention of the ICC’s anti-corruption unit. After an uproar in the Pakistani media, the two officials later said they had only gone to the casinos to eat. Sources said disciplinary action could be taken against both of them upon their return to Pakistan.
A PCB source said that at least 15 to 20 PCB officials traveled between Colombo and Lahore while some were stationed there permanently as Pakistan is the official host of the Asia Cup. The source said the two PCB officials should not have gone to the casino where gambling was taking place.
Moin Khan was released
Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan, who was the team’s manager and chief selector in the 2015 ODI World Cup. He was recalled to Pakistan midway through the tournament after he and his wife were spotted at a casino in Christchurch before the game against West Indies. Moeen also maintained his innocence and said he had gone to dinner, but then PCB chairman Shahryar Khan clarified that Moeen had violated the team’s code of conduct and contract and Moeen Khan was sacked.
