A surprising story has emerged from Brazilian football. Three young players from Atlético Goianiense’s Under-17 squad are no longer with the club. Their dismissal followed a specific incident that caught fire on social media. These players had shared a photograph showing them alongside Elisa Sanches, a Brazilian adult film actress.
The club quickly issued a statement to ‘GloboEsporte.’ Officials firmly stated there was no direct connection between the photo and the players’ departure. They also mentioned that three other athletes from the very same team had also been told to leave. The short note from the club cited a simple reason for these changes: "The disassociation with the athletes was based on technical performance results," the statement read.
It’s worth noting that Atlético Goianiense’s U-17 team isn’t exactly shining on the field. They currently sit at the very bottom of the Brasileirão U-17 league table. So far, they’ve only managed to earn three points from sixteen matches played. The team from Goiás hasn’t secured a single victory in the championship all season. To make matters worse, they suffered a massive 8-1 defeat against Grêmio just last Wednesday.
