Atlético de Madrid have completed their first free signing of the summer

Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone has been looking to strengthen his midfield in the last two transfer windows and it looks like he will finally get his wish for next season. According to Pedro Morata, Atlético de Madrid have reached a pre-agreement to sign Guido Rodríguez when his contract with Real Betis ends next summer.

The 29-year-old Argentine midfielder has been a standout figure for Betis, collecting a goal and an assist in the 19 games he has played this season. Despite rumors linking Rodríguez with teams such as Barcelona and Manchester United, Atlético appears to be Madrid have won the race for his signing.

Real Betis have resigned themselves to losing Rodríguez at the end of his contract and Atlético Madrid are happy to finalize this deal. Although it would be ideal for Simeone to be able to count on him straight away, the Argentine midfielder is currently recovering from a leg injury.
