At 81, Joe Biden is questioned about his age and mental health

”Mi memoria está bien”: Biden defendió su salud mental y edad al ser cuestionado por sus constantes lapsus

US President Joe Biden has raised concerns about his mental health in several areas due to his constant mistakes in public speaking.

“My memory is fine,” the president said angrily after a prosecutor questioned his abilities because of what he said was “significantly impaired memory” at hearings he attended in 2023.

All of this came after Justice Department special counsel Robert Hur found that Biden had improperly stored some military and foreign policy documents in Afghanistan after his term as vice president.

Additionally, the prosecutor said the president “couldn’t even remember” his son’s death, describing him as “a well-intentioned old man with a poor memory.”

During a press conference at the White House, Biden tried to defend himself against the allegations and answer questions from reporters who asked him about his age and mental capacity.

However, the president again found himself confused while answering a question about the war between Israel and Gaza.

“I think, as you originally know, the President of Mexico, Sisi, did not want to open the door to let humanitarian materials in,” Biden said, confusing Egyptian leader Abdul Fattah al-Sisi with the “President of Mexico.”

This isn’t the first time Biden has made mistakes like this, making mistakes in references or in mentioning people. Additionally, he was seen disoriented in some episodes.

For example, in a recent speech he confused the current President of France, Emmanuel Macron, with the late Francois Mitterrand.

Biden’s age is a concern

President Joe Biden will seek re-election in November, but voters and other sectors have raised concerns about the president’s age.

With that in mind, the 81-year-old president acknowledged he is older but said he was the most qualified candidate.

“I have good intentions… And I’m older. I know what the fuck I’m doing. I put this country back on its feet. “I don’t need your recommendation,” he replied to a journalist.

If he wins the election, Biden would begin his second term at 82 and end at 86.

In fact, voters are less worried about Donald Trump, who is 77 years old and would be Biden’s direct rival as the Republican presidential candidate.

The truth is that Biden’s health has been used by Republicans as one of the political campaign issues in the middle of this election year.

“A man who is also unable to take responsibility for the mismanagement of classified information is certainly not fit for the Oval Office,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican.

Republican Congressman Kevin Hern also ironized the situation and asserted that Biden was “a ‘well-intentioned old man with a bad memory’ who has access to the nuclear codes…”
