Aston Martin Unveils AMR25 Formula 1 Car with Alonso

Aston Martin Amr25, a car to dream again with Alonso

The anticipation for a new car is still very much alive, even if live presentations may be a thing of the past. With the drivers and the car already in Bahrain, where the international circuit in Sakhir is set to kick off tomorrow, the Aston Martin AMR25, driven by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, can now be seen in all its details. And there are plenty of details to take in.

It’s a car that, according to Alonso, changes “in appearance and elements of aerodynamics, at 95%.” The Asturian pilot also hinted at a new method in its development that will help recover lost time. At first glance, aside from the slightly altered decoration with touches of white and the center of the black pontoons, a new, extremely short and flat nose stands out. This nose links with the second flap of the front wing, leaving the first free with a great ‘spoon’ underneath that allows for a greater air step. The concept is similar to last year’s but very refined and optimized.

On the sides, the changes are more pronounced, with pontones that seem to follow the concept of an inverted entrance, similar to Ferrari’s design. Although the first image doesn’t show all the details completely, being partially obscured, the upper wing that precedes the entrance of the pontones suggests this might be the case, not being at the bottom as in 2024. The side ducts where the radiators are housed are very fine and high, leaving more space below. This is something Ferrari has explored in their new SF-25, and McLaren found profitable last year.

In the front view, an extra wing at the top of the pontoons can be seen, along with what appears to be a change in the cooling entry concept. The air input cut down from Ferrari or Red Bull is not visible, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there, as certain parts have been obscured.

The suspension remains unchanged, with the classic ‘push-rod’ (pushers) in the front, a design choice that Mercedes will also use this season. It’s one of the few cars that combines the double push in its design. In the part of the entry of the pontones, a somewhat triangular lower frame or tray is noticeable, which could lead to a supplementary lower air intake, but it’s impossible to distinguish it in detail from the provided images.

From above, details like the advances on the sides, just below the rearview mirror, are visible. The very short nose, reminiscent of Red Bull’s style, and the minimal and tight body in the rear next to the engine, are also noteworthy. The channels that go down the sides to the ‘Beam Wing’ rear are again wider than in the 2024 car. Aesthetically, it’s undoubtedly one of the most beautiful of the grid, with a very long nose.

Alonso: “On the right path”

Fernando Alonso expressed his emotion about returning and what he learned from last year’s challenges. “The competition will be very close in this last year of the current regulations, but I know that the team has been working hard at the AMRTC (the factory) to make sure we are ready. I’m excited to return to the track; I am ready to help this team strengthen and continue this journey with Aston Martin,” he said in the team’s official statement. Alonso’s optimism and the team’s hard work hint at a promising season ahead for Aston Martin.
