Apple has launched new iPad Pro models, featuring the debut of its M5 processing chip, which promises substantial performance upgrades, particularly in artificial intelligence and graphics.
The M5 chip integrates a 10-core CPU, comprising four performance cores and six efficiency cores, which Apple claims are the fastest CPU cores globally. It also includes a 10-core GPU.
This new chip significantly boosts AI processing by up to 3.5 times, attributed to new Neural Engine accelerators. Graphics rendering for Ray Tracing sees a 1.5-fold improvement, while video transcoding in Final Cut Pro is 1.2 times faster.
The M5 chip is making its global debut with these iPad Pro models. Apple also indicated it will be integrated into new MacBook Pro models and future Apple Vision Pro devices.
The M5 chip further enhances video output capabilities. The new iPad Pros can project to external displays with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and support Adaptive Sync for variable refresh rates.

Beyond the M5, the new iPad Pro models incorporate an N1 chip for improved wireless connectivity. They also feature a C1X modem chip, which is expected to first appear in the iPhone 17 Series in 2025.
The devices also support fast charging capabilities, mirroring those of the upcoming iPhone 17 Series. An 11-inch model can charge from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes, with the 13-inch model achieving the same in 35 minutes using a compatible adapter such as Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter.
