Apple announced this week the new generation of MacBook Pro with its most powerful SoCs, the M1 Pro and M1 Max. For the next generation of MacBook Air a new processor is reserved, which should be known as M2.
This is the most recurrent thesis in the technological environment and now reinforced by another source. Via Twitter, user Dylan reports this and other relevant details about Apple’s next entry-level laptop.
MacBook Air will have a new processor and new design
Heading into 2022, the next MacBook Air promises to change the formula that Apple has chosen for the market currently on the market. First of all, we will have a new processor that should be known as M2.
It will be a step up from the M1 found within the current model, however, it should not beat the M1 Pro and M1 Max. After all, the latter were designed for the professional audience that is not the preferred target of the MacBook Air.
Still, the new M2 will still be quite efficient, so Apple will once again eliminate the use of fans in the next MacBook Air, allowing the development of a thinner and lighter notebook without sacrificing its performance.
We will also have major changes in the design of the next MacBook Air, the new model will take on a more rectangular appearance, as well as the latest Apple products.
A wider range of colors available to the user is expected with strong inspiration from what Apple did with the 24-inch iMac. Also inspired by that product will be the off-white borders that surround the MacBook Air screen and keyboard.
To clarify is the adoption of a notch on its screen as in the new MacBook Pro. However, everything indicates that the Air model will also adopt the new 1080p webcam. USB-C inputs and a 30W adapter are also expected.
The new MacBook Air is coming in the spring
As for the launch window for this product, Mark Gurman is confident that it will only happen in 2022. It could happen in the spring, along with the long-awaited announcement of the iPhone SE 3.
For the remainder of 2021, no major announcements are expected from Apple. This means that fans of the brand will have to wait until next year to discover new products.
