Apple: iOS 15 Still Falling Short of iOS 14 Early Adoption

A few months after its release, iOS 15 is slow to reach the adoption levels of its predecessor. This phenomenon may be due to some bugs associated with this version, or even users with older computers simply prefer not to upgrade.

It looks like iOS 15 will be the end of the smartphone lineup with the iPhone 6S and first-gen iPhone SE, as far as major updates go. Another detail is that Apple has also started allowing users to stay on iOS 14, receiving security updates as well.

According to the most recent data from the App Store, as of January 11, 72% of iPhones released in the last four years had iOS 15. It should be noted that 26% of these models are still on iOS 14, and only 2% in previous versions.

63% of compatible iPhones have iOS 15

When we pull the string for all iOS 15 compatible devices, the percentage is obviously lower. 63% of iOS 15 compatible devices are already on this version, and 30% are still on iOS 14. 7% are still on older versions.

About a year ago the figures were much more considerable. This is because iOS 14 had an install rate of 81%. This is a trend that also extends to iPadOS 15 on the brand’s tablets.

It can be seen that 57% of iPads released in the last four years have iPadOS 15, while 39% are still on iPadOS 14. Among all iPads that support iPadOS 15, 49% are on this version and 37% % in the previous. version.

As we mentioned initially, Apple started allowing users to stay on iOS 14 and also receive security updates. And that may go a long way to explaining these more modest numbers.
