Anurag Kashyap: I try new things, I’ll earn money this time with Nishaanchi

Anurag Kashyap is a name that often brings to mind gritty, real stories. He’s the filmmaker who loves to shake things up. Now, he’s getting everyone talking about his upcoming movie, ‘Nishaanchi’. This film is another deep dive into a gangster family drama, promising intense action and serious gang rivalries. But this time, Anurag has a surprising new goal: making money.

Anurag recently opened up about ‘Nishaanchi’. He spoke about picking new faces for the cast. He also shared his thoughts on how important box office success is to him. It seems he’s ready to blend his unique storytelling with commercial appeal.

During a chat with Tele Talk India, someone brought up a comment by the legendary Javed Akhtar. Javed Akhtar once asked Anurag why he made ‘Mukkabaaz,’ a film that didn’t end up earning much. Anurag remembers that. He’s now confidently saying about ‘Nishaanchi,’ “This time, Javed sahib, I will make money!”

So, how does Anurag find the perfect people for his stories? He says it’s all about raw talent. He looks for actors who show dedication and truly commit their time to the film. It’s not just about giving someone a chance. He’s hunting for the right fit for each role. For ‘Nishaanchi,’ he searched for ‘Bablu’ and ‘Dablu,’ and ‘Rinku,’ and even their mother. He found these characters in the actors he chose. He even spoke with their families, letting them know he would need a lot of time to create the film.

Aishwarya Thackeray, one of the leads, perfectly shows this commitment. Aishwarya comes from Mumbai. But for his role, he needed to become a local from Kanpur. He worked incredibly hard for this. Anurag mentioned that Aishwarya gave him four years of his time. Only then did they begin shooting the movie.

Anurag also shared his thoughts on his approach to filmmaking. He believes sticking to one style can make a director irrelevant. He’s always learning from others. He loves to try new things and never wants to get stuck in a rut. He actively avoids formulas. He also stays away from people who might bring him down. He even once shared that he wants people to forget his cult classic, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur.’ That shows how much he loves moving forward and creating fresh stories.

Get ready for ‘Nishaanchi’ to hit cinemas on September 19th. This movie is a gritty gangster drama set in the heartland. Aishwarya Thackeray takes on a double role as the twin brothers, Bablu and Dablu. The film also stars Vedika Pinto, Monica Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in key roles.
