Jug Jug Jio, starring Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Varun Dhawan, is set to hit theaters on June 24. The film crew will leave no stone unturned to promote it. In a recent interview, Anil Kapoor said that Neetu Kapoor was a big star at the time he was wrestling.
Anil recalled going to the set of the 1975 film ‘Khel Khel Mein’. Anil also told why they weren’t cast in a movie together until now. He said it was great for the audience to see their ‘new’ partner now, as it had become ‘even harder’ to maintain ‘zeal’.
He said: “I went to see her (Khel Khel Mein) shoot when Neetu was working on ‘Khel Khel Mein’. I went to the RK studio. Bachcha tha main (was a boy then).” Anil Kapoor described Neetu as older than him, saying that she had ‘just started her career’ and should say ‘ma’am’. However, Neetu clarified that Anil is ‘two years older than him.
Speaking about his participation in his movie Jagu Jug Jio, Anil said, “It was a masterstroke. It was fantastic for me, for the film. We were going to work together for the first time. Is awesome. I couldn’t have asked for anything better than this… It’s something new for the audience when you see two people working for the first time. Many jodis like Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) and Neetu have made movies over and over again, but it’s very difficult to maintain that kind of enthusiasm forever, and it’s even more difficult in today’s times. So I was very excited and very happy. I thought it was a stroke of genius. He’s fit for the part and no one could have done it better than him.”
The film also stars Maniesh Paul, Prajakta Koli, and Tisca Chopra along with Varun, Kiara Advani, Anil, and Neetu. The comedy-drama is directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Viacom 18 Studios and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
