Anil Kapoor recently commemorated the 36th anniversary of his acclaimed film, “Parinda.” The veteran actor celebrated the milestone with a heartfelt social media post on Monday.
Released in 1989, “Parinda” was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The crime drama is widely regarded as a cinematic classic in Indian cinema.
Kapoor shared his original aspirations for the project. He recalled hoping to create a film that would resonate across generations.
“When we made ‘Parinda,’ we said, ‘We want to make a film that not just our children, but their children too, will watch and say, ‘What a film!'” Kapoor wrote on X.
Thirty-six years later, Kapoor believes “Parinda” has achieved that enduring status. He emphasized its special place in his heart.
He added, “Time has passed, but this film still holds a special place in my heart. I hope Vayu (Anil Kapoor’s grandson) watches it soon.”
The film featured a stellar ensemble cast. Alongside Kapoor, it starred Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, and Madhuri Dixit.
“Parinda” not only performed well at the box office. Nana Patekar earned a National Award for Best Supporting Actor for his impactful role.
