Andy Murray Out of Wimbledon Due to Back Injury

Andy Murray misses his last Wimbledon due to his back

Andy Murray, now 37 years old, will be unable to participate in this year’s Wimbledon, which takes place from July 1 to 14, due to a back injury he sustained in his first-round match against Alexei Popyrin at Queen’s.

The injury required surgery to remove a cyst on his back, and unfortunately, the recovery timeline does not allow him to compete on the grass courts at Wimbledon.

Despite this setback, Murray was in good form, having recently beaten Carlos Alcaraz in a practice match.

The Scottish tennis star, a two-time Wimbledon champion, will aim to recover in time for the Paris Olympics, which take place from July 27 to August 4.

The International Tennis Federation has invited Murray to participate in the draw due to his impressive record, including two Olympic gold medals and three Grand Slam titles.

Murray plans to retire from professional tennis at the conclusion of the Olympic event, bringing an end to a career marked by 46 titles and a hip operation in 2019, which led to him playing with a prosthetic hip.
