Andy Cohen Reacts to RHOP Stars’ Arrests: Alleged Fraud, Faked Robbery

The world of The Real Housewives of Potomac has been shaken. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, faced serious legal trouble. A grand jury accused them of several crimes on Thursday, October 9. These included insurance fraud, planning to commit insurance fraud, and lying to a police officer.

Authorities booked the couple, both 41, in Westminster, Maryland, that same Thursday. They didn’t stay locked up for long. On Friday, October 10, they were set free. Each paid a $50,000 bond to get out.

News of the arrests quickly spread. Andy Cohen, at 57, the show’s producer, spoke out on Monday, October 13. He addressed the situation on the episode of SiriusXM Andy Cohen Live. "Like all of you, I learned about the charges against Wendy and Eddie Osefo on Friday morning," Cohen said. "I don’t have much to say." He added, "I don’t know anything more about the charges than you do, only what I’ve read."

Cohen shared his feelings openly. "I’m sad about this whole thing," he admitted. "Truly, I’m sad. Wendy, you know, I’m a big fan of hers. She’s been a fantastic housewife and a true role model." He praised her values. "She always put education first and showed strong family values. So, I’m thinking a lot about her and her family now. I really hope this all turns out to be nothing."

The Osefos, through a representative, also released a statement. They confirmed they were "back home safe and sound with their family and in good spirits." They expressed thanks for all the support from friends, fans, and coworkers. The family and their legal team are ready for their day in court. They asked for privacy while they focus on their family and the legal issues ahead.

This legal drama started with a call to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Back in April 2024, officers responded to a supposed robbery at the Osefo home. Wendy and Eddie reported a shocking scene. They claimed their house was ransacked after they returned from a trip to Jamaica. Many items were missing, including jewelry and designer handbags.

Eddie then spoke with two different insurance companies. He gave them lists of the items he said were stolen. Both he and Wendy signed papers. They claimed $2,500 for damage to their house. They also sought a hefty $450,000 for the missing goods.

One claim went to Travelers Insurance. It settled for $25,380 in April 2024. This payment included $4,500 for what Wendy said was her missing gold and diamond anniversary band. That same month, a separate claim went to Jewelers Mutual Insurance. In that report, the gold anniversary band was listed among 57 other items supposedly stolen.

But investigators looked deeper into the April 2024 robbery report. They found some surprising facts. Many items the Osefos claimed were stolen had actually been bought. Then, they were returned to stores for a full refund before the alleged home invasion happened. Even more telling, Wendy was reportedly seen wearing her "stolen" gold and diamond anniversary band on social media after the robbery.

After the Osefos were arrested this month, police searched their home again. Reports say investigators found at least 15 items there. These were the very items they had previously reported as stolen. The police report gave a clear reason for these actions. It stated, "The investigation revealed that the Osefos were overwhelmed by considerable debt."

Wendy and Eddie Osefo have been married since August 2011. They are parents to three children: sons Karter and Kruz, and daughter Kamrynn. Wendy first joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac in 2020, during the show’s fifth season.
