Amy Robach, T.J. Holmes Engaged Years After GMA3 Scandal

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have announced their engagement, marking a new chapter three years after their controversial relationship first became public. The former GMA3 co-anchors revealed the news on their "Amy & TJ" podcast on Tuesday, October 14. They shared they have been engaged for approximately one month.

Holmes, 48, noted their intention to share the news directly, stating, "We wanted to let everyone know before anyone else could, we learned that lesson, I think, in the past about our relationship." Robach, 52, humorously added that she had been wearing her engagement ring openly "in front of tens of thousands of people" at three major football stadiums, yet no one inquired.

The couple’s relationship first surfaced in late 2022. At the time, both Robach and Holmes were married to other individuals, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig, respectively. The ensuing scandal led to their dismissal from ABC in January 2023.

Earlier this year, sources close to the couple had indicated that an engagement was imminent. They suggested the announcement would likely be made on their podcast when the timing felt right.

Plans for Robach and Holmes’ wedding are reportedly modest and understated, deviating from a traditional, "ostentatious" ceremony. Sources indicated that both Robach’s ex-husband, Andrew Shue, and Holmes’ ex-wife, Marilee Fiebig, are expected to be invited; Shue and Fiebig are currently dating.

The couple had also openly discussed the possibility of expanding their family in the month leading up to their engagement announcement. Holmes mentioned the idea of adoption on their podcast in September.

Robach shared that she found the suggestion amusing because she had been told she could no longer have children after her battle with breast cancer. She was diagnosed in 2013, underwent chemotherapy, and received a cancer-free diagnosis after reconstructive surgery.

While Robach has two daughters, Ava and Annalie, with Shue, and Holmes has Brianna and Jaiden with ex-wife Amy Ferson, plus Sabine with Fiebig, Holmes expressed a desire to create "their own unit." Robach noted her appreciation for having Holmes’ daughter, Sabine, close by, cherishing the "childlike sweetness."
