Amitabh Bachchan Mourns Satish Shah’s Death: ‘Another Companion Gone’

Veteran actor Satish Shah, celebrated for his extensive work in Bollywood and television, passed away on October 25 at the age of 74. He took his last breath at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Shah had been battling a kidney-related illness for several months.

He underwent a kidney transplant approximately three months prior. His passing has deeply saddened the Indian film industry.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan expressed his profound grief on his blog. Bachchan, who worked with Shah in the film ‘Bhoothnath’, remembered his colleague.

Bachchan wrote, “Every day a new morning, a new task and another colleague has departed from us… Satish Shah, an excellent talent, left too soon.” He added, “This sadness these days is not normal, but life goes on, and the show must go on.”

Born in 1951, Satish Shah’s career spanned over five decades. He was renowned for his exceptional comedic timing and warm demeanor. His performances brought smiles to millions of faces.

One of his most memorable roles was Indravadan Sarabhai in the popular television series ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’. His wit and natural delivery, alongside co-stars Ratna Pathak Shah and Rupali Ganguly, made the show a classic. This character remains iconic in Indian television history.

Shah’s filmography was diverse and impactful. He delivered a notable comedic performance in the 1983 cult classic ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’. He also appeared in the TV show ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’.

Later generations knew him from films like ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Fanaa’, and ‘Om Shanti Om’. Shah was not merely a comedian; he was a versatile actor who consistently made his presence felt in every scene.
