AMC considers adding SHIB as payment for cinema tickets

If the will of the people prevails, Siba Inu (SHIB) will soon be accepted as a method of payment at cinema chain AMC.

AMC asks users if they want to pay with SHIB

Cinema chain AMC Entertainment is updating its technical infrastructure to allow consumers to pay online with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin for their movie tickets. But it doesn’t stop there. In a Twitter post, Adam Aron, the company’s CEO, asked if users might be interested in paying with Shiba Inu as well. At the time of writing, 97,582 Twitter users had already participated in the poll. According to the poll, about 85% of voters were interested.

The iconic cinema chain has recently shown a growing interest in crypto. Last week, its CEO discussed the possibility of issuing a company-specific cryptocurrency. Earlier this month, AMC enabled its customers to purchase digital gift cards. This was done via Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies using the BitPay wallet.

Catching up from Shiba Inu

On Friday, Shiba Inu overtook the Dogecoin, making it the world’s 8th largest cryptocurrency. The number of SHIB transactions is also skyrocketing. According to Etherscan, the daily number of Shiba Inu transactions has crossed the 140,000 mark. This is just below the all-time high of 172,411 daily trades reached in May.

By the way, it is not just speculation that causes the SHIB price to rise. The technical updates are also a positive sign. The Shiba Inu ecosystem has been expanded with ShibaSwap, a decentralized exchange. The total closed value, or TVL, on ShibaSwap is $537.92 million based on data from Defi Llama. There are currently 29 coins listed on ShibaSwap, with a value of $236 million worth of coins that have changed hands in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. In addition to the basic token, Shiba Inu, ShibaSwap features two additional tokens. Bone ShibaSwap is used to vote on governance protocols proposed by developers while Doge Killer is used to provide trading liquidity on the DEX.
