If the rumors are correct, then Amazon will enter the world of Web3 in a very special way. Namely, the massive e-commerce company is developing the ability to link real-world assets to NFTs, which are then delivered to your doorstep. If we use the reporting from The Big Whale may believe, then April 24, 2023 may well be the launch date of this new project.
Amazon and NFT
This isn’t the first time these rumors have circulated. In addition, current Amazon CEO Andy Jassy was also very positive about NFTs in CBNC’s program Squawk Box. “I expect NFTs to continue to grow strongly. However, we are not yet close to adding cryptocurrencies as a means of payment in our retail businesses,” said Jassy. He later indicated that this may also change in the future.
"I expect that #NFTs will continue to grow very significantly. We’re not probably close to adding #crypto as a payment mechanism in our retail business. But I do believe over time you’ll see crypto become and it’s possible … it’s possible down the road," says $AMZN CEO @ajassy. pic.twitter.com/6q6HVolzgU

Not long ago, Amazon also entered into a partnership with Ava Labs, the company behind the Avalanche blockchain. The idea of this partnership is to enable Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers to work with Avalanche, for example by running a node.
First only in the US
Amazon’s new platform will probably only be available in the United States initially. In the future this digital marketplace should then also appear on the platform for the rest of the world, including for Europe.
If we are to believe The Big Whale’s report, the marketplace has been postponed twice in recent weeks, partly due to the collapse of Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX. So now April 24 seems to be the launch date, unless something of the same caliber implodes again within the industry. For now, however, it’s all just rumors, so let’s wait for the official news.
