Albés and Sporting Reach Preliminary Agreement

Following a few days of negotiations, Rubén Albés is set to become the new coach of Sporting de Gijón. The Vigo coach was the first and only option for the Gijón team to replace Miguel Ángel Ramírez.

Albés has agreed to join the El Molinón bench, bringing his impressive experience in the Second Division with him. He is known for his ability to turn around teams’ fortunes, having saved Lugo from relegation in extremis and guiding Albacete to the promotion play-offs.

Before his stint in professional football, Albés honed his skills by coaching various youth teams, including Novelda, Eldense, Valladolid B, Celta de Vigo B, and UCAM Murcia. His time at Belmonte was marked by a bad dynamic, but he maintained a loyal following, with fans chanting his name during his final game.

Albés was the only name on the table for Gijón, with Las Palmas, Elche, and Espanyol also expressing interest. However, the red and white project ultimately won the contract, and the official announcement is expected in the next few hours.

Rubén Albés is a brave and results-driven coach whose teams do not compromise on their performances. He is set to lead Sporting de Gijón forward, with his appointment expected to boost the team’s chances in the upcoming season.
