The death toll from the Air India plane crash in western India has risen to at least 270.
Medical officials confirmed the discovery of more bodies on the ground.
The Air India flight, AI 171, crashed into a medical student hostel in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, last Thursday, just 60 seconds after takeoff.
Everyone on board, 241 people, died instantly.
Only one person, a 40-year-old British man, miraculously survived.
Indian authorities are working to identify the victims using DNA samples from relatives.
They will release the official death toll after completing the DNA analysis.
The Indian government’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is leading the investigation into the crash.
US and UK officials are assisting.
On Friday, Indian officials recovered one of the plane’s black boxes, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, said this discovery will significantly aid the investigation.
Dr. Thawal Gameti, president of the BJ Medical College and Hospital’s medical association, confirmed that the hospital has 270 bodies, with 241 believed to be from the flight.
Over 30 victims have been formally identified using DNA samples provided by their families.
