The Colombian ambassador to Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, has confirmed that air connections between the two countries will resume on September 26, when the first Caracas-Bogotá flight will take off after the normalization of relations.
"Open skies between Venezuela and Colombia after a Zoom meeting between the transport ministers of both countries to accelerate the normalization of flights"Benedetti has stated on his Twitter profile.
The presidents of Colombia and Venezuela, Gustavo Petro and Nicolás Maduro, respectively, announced last Friday the reopening of the border and the resumption of flights between the two countries, thus overcoming a stage of disagreements.
Relations between Bogotá and Caracas were especially tense throughout the term of former Colombian president Iván Duque, both due to the accusation of harboring criminals, and due to the lack of recognition of Maduro as Venezuelan president while Juan Guaidó was supported as "president in charge".
