African Qualifiers: Egypt beat Senegal and Cameroon fell to Algeria

The Egyptian team beat Senegal 1-0 this Friday, in the first leg of one of the decisive keys to the Africa tie, which will qualify five countries for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, to be held between November and next December.

At the International Stadium in Cairo, the local team took a minimal advantage with a conquest against their fence by Saliou Ciss (Pt. 5m.), after a shot by Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah, which crashed into the crossbar and involuntarily bounced off the defender’s thigh.

The meeting followed the final that both teams starred in last February and that Senegal beat Egypt on penalties in Yaoundé to win the African Cup of Nations in Cameroonian territory. Both selected will face each other again this Tuesday, starting at 2:00 p.m. in Argentina, in the city of Dakar.

In another tie, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, led by Argentine coach Héctor Cúper (former manager of Lanús), equalized at home against Morocco (1-1). Yoane Wissa (Pt. 12m.) opened the account for the Congolese representative, who finished with ten men, due to the expulsion of Ngonda Muzinga (St. 40m.). The Moroccan cast established equality through Tarik Tissoudali (St. 31m.), after Ryan Kabir wasted a penalty kick (St. 11m.).

In Yaoundé, meanwhile, the local Cameroon fell to Algeria, 1-0. The only goal was the work of the attacker of Sporting Lisboa, Islam Slimani (Pt.40m.). The rematch will be played on Tuesday in Algiers.

In Bamako, visiting Tunisia drew an important 1-0 difference over Mali. The only goal came in the 36th minute of the first half, with an unusual goal against Moussa Sissako (later sent off at 40m. of the first period), when he wanted to set his goalkeeper Ibrahim Mounkoro back.
