Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the assembly that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be formed to investigate the death of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager, Disha Salian. According to police, 28-year-old Disha Salian allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a multi-storey building on June 8, 2020 in the Malad area of Mumbai. At the same time, Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found hanged in his apartment on June 14 in the Bandra area of Mumbai.
BJP leaders had demanded an investigation into Salian’s death. BJP leader Fadnavis is also the state’s interior minister. He told the House: “The matter is already with the Mumbai police. Those who have evidence, can give. An SIT will investigate it.” Opposition leader Ajit Pawar said he should not be seen from a political angle.
Fadnavis said the investigation will be conducted fairly without targeting anyone. Lawmakers in the ruling coalition had demanded the formation of an SIT to investigate Salian’s death. The chamber was suspended five times for this issue. They were clearly targeting the MLAs of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and former minister Aaditya Thackeray.
The matter was first raised in the House by Balasahebchi Shiv Sena (Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister) MLA Bharat Gogavale and was joined by BJP MLA Nitesh Rane.
