Abhay Deol isn’t your typical celebrity. He’s known for picking unique movie roles, often stepping away from the usual Bollywood hustle. This thoughtful approach extends to his personal life and how he keeps himself healthy. While many stars hit the gym hard, Abhay has a different secret weapon: meditation.
He recently opened up about his wellness journey. Instead of intense workouts, he focuses on his mental and physical well-being through quiet reflection. He shared these insights during a candid chat with astrologer and life coach Jai Madaan. Abhay has been consistently practicing meditation for a few years now.
Abhay’s Daily Focus: Tratak Meditation
Abhay explained that one of his favorite ways to meditate is Tratak. You might also know it as candle gazing. Every morning, he uses a ghee lamp for this special ritual. He’s not trying to stop blinking. For him, the practice is about finding stillness. It helps him concentrate and feel grounded before his day even starts. It brings him stability and sharpens his observation skills.
Understanding Tratak
So, what exactly is Tratak meditation? It’s an ancient yoga technique, mentioned in old texts like the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Patanjali Yoga Sutras. The main idea is to focus intently on a single point. This is often the flame of a candle or a lamp. Traditional practice often suggests using a ghee lamp. In Ayurveda, ghee is believed to purify the air and calm your mind. Unlike some other meditations, your eyes stay open during Tratak. You just keep looking at that one steady point.
Away from his peaceful morning routine, Abhay was last seen on screen in the film ‘Bun Tikki’. He starred alongside the acclaimed actress Shabana Azmi in the movie, which came out this year.
