Lille surged into fourth place in French Ligue 1 standings following a decisive victory, while Lens continued its unexpected climb, now tied for second, as other contenders faltered during the 11th round of matches.
Portuguese player Félix Correia scored the sole goal in Lille’s 1-0 win against Angers on Saturday. The 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi, named best on the field, provided a critical pass to Correia, who finished at close range into the bottom right corner in the 45th minute of play.

Lille now holds 20 points, placing them four points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who have 24 points. This move up the table was aided by defeats suffered by Monaco and Strasbourg. Lille also holds a two-point advantage over Marseille and Lens.
Lens continued its impressive run, achieving a 3-0 home victory over struggling Lorient. Odsonne Edouard opened the scoring just six minutes into the match.
Wesley Said added a second goal in the 77th minute, followed by a third from Austrian defender Samson Baidoo in the 89th minute. Lens is now tied with Marseille in second place.

Elsewhere, Nantes, led by Portuguese coach Luís Castro, suffered its second consecutive defeat. They lost 2-0 to Metz, who climbed out of last place with the win.
Metz’s goals came from Georgian Giorgi Abuashvili in the 82nd minute and Senegalese Habib Diallo in the 89th minute. Portuguese international goalkeeper Anthony Lopes was unable to prevent either goal.
Nantes sits in 15th place with nine points. Metz is 17th with eight points.
Strasbourg’s strong form was halted with a 4-1 thrashing by Rennes. This defeat dropped Strasbourg to sixth place with 19 points, while Rennes moved up to 10th with 15 points.
Esteban Lepaul was the standout player for Rennes, securing a hat-trick with goals in the ninth, 48th, and 60th minutes. Mohamed Meite also scored for Rennes in the 35th minute.
Swedish player Sebastian Nanasi netted a consolation goal for Strasbourg in the 77th minute.
In another match, Toulouse and Le Havre played to a 0-0 draw, leaving both teams in the middle of the table. Toulouse is ninth with 15 points, and Le Havre is 12th with 13 points.
Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon team, with 19 points, was scheduled to play Brest later in the day.
