Google Attacks iPhone 17 with Pixel 10 AI, But Misses the Mark

Apple just pulled back the curtain on its new iPhone 17 line. Not one to let a rival have the spotlight, Google quickly hit back with an ad of its own. This new jab pits the Pixel 10 against the iPhone. It puts a big focus on artificial intelligence, but it seems Google didn’t quite land a knockout punch.

This isn’t Google’s first shot across the bow. They’re known for their “Best Phones Forever” ad series, where a confident Pixel playfully teases an iPhone that seems a bit out of touch. The idea is always to highlight a feature the iPhone still doesn’t have. However, this latest ad, called “Generational Gap,” doesn’t pack the same punch as past Google campaigns. They really could have done more.

The ad shows an iPhone trying to teach chickens how to sing. Suddenly, the Pixel steps in and reveals it actually created the chicken video. It also made another video of turtles working in an office, all thanks to its Gemini AI. The ad then reminds viewers that Pixel 10 Pro models come with a year of free Google AI Pro. Apple can’t match that offer because Siri simply isn’t as capable as Gemini.

Let’s be real, this isn’t Google’s sharpest attack we’ve seen. Google often hits hard and clearly, pointing out exactly what the Pixel has that the iPhone lacks. The company has a history of clever ads showing off the Pixel’s edge.

Considering the iPhone 17 finally brought features that Android phones have had for ages, Google could have been much bolder. They could have at least shown an actual iPhone 17 in the ad, instead of using an older model. That would have made the message far more powerful.

In the end, it’s a lighthearted bit of fun. It serves its purpose by showing off the Pixel’s AI smarts. It’s worth a quick watch, if only for the singing chickens and those turtles running a “front company.”
