Electric vehicles are quickly becoming the standard, but real-world challenges like range anxiety and safety concerns still bother drivers. But what if a new battery could make those worries disappear? This is the big question Chinese battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL) is asking.
Right before the IAA Mobility auto show kicked off in Munich, Germany, CATL unveiled its Shenxing Pro battery. They presented it as the ultimate answer for electric transportation across Europe.
CATL has spent seven years focusing on “No Propagation” (NP) safety innovations. This work led directly to the Shenxing Pro battery. The company believes this revolutionary part could solve Europe’s electric mobility needs.
The NP 3.0 technology uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. This allows the battery to keep supplying power for more than an hour even after it overheats. This gives drivers time to move their vehicle safely out of harm’s way. The battery specialist also ensures its product stops visible flames and smoke during overheating. This prevents further accidents that can happen when a driver’s view is blocked.

Shenxing Pro Comes in Two Flavors
CATL is launching two distinct versions of its Shenxing Pro battery. Each targets different driver needs.
- Shenxing Pro Super Long Life & Long Range Battery
This version offers a fantastic WLTP range of 758 kilometers. It is built to last, with a lifespan of up to 12 years or one million kilometers. According to CATL, this battery only loses 9% of its performance after 200,000 kilometers. This design fits perfectly with the needs of the European leasing market.
- Shenxing Pro Super-Fast Charging Battery
This option focuses on speed. It can add 478 kilometers of WLTP range in just 10 minutes. That’s like getting 0.8 kilometers of range every second. This makes it Europe’s top super-fast charging LFP battery. CATL also shared that this fast-charging battery can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds at 830 kW, even when its charge is as low as 20%.
CATL promises this battery performs well even in very cold conditions. It can provide 410 kilometers of range after only 20 minutes of charging at -20 °C.

CATL isn’t just selling batteries; they are aiming for something bigger. Tan Libin, CATL’s commercial director and senior vice president of global business, told CnEVPost that the company wants to go further than simply “in Europe, for Europe.” CATL plans to combine its advanced technology with Europe’s long history in car manufacturing.
This includes building a complete, updated electric vehicle system across Europe. It covers everything from making materials and building batteries to fixing them and recycling old ones. Tan Libin stated that the main goal is to speed up Europe’s move towards cleaner energy.
