A quiet Saturday night turned terrifying for a family near Salto when their car plunged into a gully. Two individuals sustained multiple injuries after the vehicle veered off the road. The accident left the car submerged in water.
The incident occurred at midnight. They were on the route leading into Colonia Lavalleja. This village is located within a municipality of the same name. It sits about 106 kilometers north of Salto itself.
Panic gripped the family as their car, speeding along the highway, lost control. It crashed into the gully and then disappeared beneath the water’s surface. Thankfully, the driver of the vehicle escaped without a scratch. He quickly acted, managing to pull the woman and her minor son to safety. Both the mother and child had sustained injuries from the crash.
They received urgent medical attention. Paramedics rushed them to Salto Hospital. Both remain hospitalized there as they recover from their ordeal.
Traffic Police (Policía Caminera) quickly arrived at the crash site. Local police also joined them. Their purpose is to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine what caused this harrowing event.
