vivo Y400 Unveiled: Snapdragon 685, 120Hz AMOLED, 6000mAh Battery, IP68/69

Smartphones in vivo’s Y-series often aim to deliver strong features for everyday use. While the Y400 Pro grabbed headlines with its MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip, vivo has now rolled out the Y400. This new model takes a different route, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685, a chip from 2023. It’s built on a 6-nanometer process and can reach speeds up to 2.8 GHz, though it supports 4G connections only.

The vivo Y400 offers a great visual experience. It sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that shows sharp, vibrant colors. This screen boasts Full HD+ resolution and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, making everything from scrolling social media to playing games feel incredibly fluid. It also meets the DCI-P3 color standard, ensuring accurate color reproduction, and can get very bright, reaching up to 1,800 nits.

When it comes to photography, the Y400 features a capable camera system. The main camera has a 50-megapixel sensor, using the Sony IMX852. This sensor is known for capturing clear photos in various lighting conditions, from bright sunshine to dimmer environments. You also get a 2-megapixel sensor dedicated to measuring depth, which helps with portrait shots. A standout design touch on the back is the “Dynamic Ring” LED light, giving the phone a distinct look.

Under the hood, the Y400 runs on Funtouch OS 15, vivo’s custom software based on Android 15. This operating system comes packed with helpful AI features. For instance, “Transcript Assist” can turn spoken words into text. “Notes Summary” helps you quickly grasp the main points of meeting notes. Google’s “Circle to Search” lets you search for anything you see on screen just by circling it. “Screen Translation” translates text right on your display, and “AI Erase 2.0” can magically remove unwanted objects from your photos.

Beyond the AI tools, the phone also includes a “Link to Windows” feature. This allows you to connect your Y400 seamlessly to a Windows PC. You can quickly share files and photos, mirror up to five apps from your phone onto your computer screen, and even see your phone notifications on your PC. It’s a handy way to keep your digital life connected.

Powering all these features is a massive 6,000 mAh battery, ensuring long hours of use. When it’s time to recharge, it supports 44W fast charging, getting you back up and running quickly. Despite its large battery, the Y400 remains surprisingly slender at just 7.90 mm thin and weighs 196 grams. For peace of mind, it boasts an impressive IP68/69 rating for water and dust resistance. This means it can survive being submerged in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes, and it’s also protected against high-pressure water jets at temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius.

The vivo Y400 has already popped up on vivo’s official website in Indonesia. It comes in two appealing colors: Purple Twilight and Tropical Green. While its pricing details haven’t been announced yet, it’s expected that vivo will bring this model to other countries across Southeast Asia very soon.
