Portugal defeats Netherlands in women's beach soccer European League

The Portuguese women’s beach soccer team is on a roll. They just picked up another big win in the European League. On Saturday, they beat the Netherlands 6-2. This match took place in Castellamare di Stabia, Italy. It was part of the first stage of the tournament.

This victory followed another strong performance. On Friday, the Portuguese side took down Switzerland with an 8-3 score. Now, they face a crucial challenge. They will play host nation Italy on Sunday. This match will decide who qualifies for the Superfinal. The Superfinal will be held in Viareggio, Italy, from September 9 to 14.

The game against the Netherlands started slowly. The first period saw no goals at all. The teams battled hard on the Stabia Beach Arena sand. But just before the second period ended, Inês Cruz found the back of the net for Portugal. This broke the deadlock.

Portugal then stormed into the third and final period. They quickly added to their lead. Andreia Silva scored, making it 2-0. Joana Flores followed with another goal, pushing the score to 3-0. The Netherlands fought back, with Nancy scoring their first goal.

But Portugal kept pressing their attack. Mélissa Gomes added to the tally. Inês Cruz scored her second goal of the match. Joana Flores also netted her second goal, extending Portugal’s lead. Jona managed to score another goal for the Dutch side. However, it was not enough to catch Portugal. The team showed great teamwork and skill.
