The bright lights of Ibiza usually tell tales of vibrant nights and endless music. But a shadow fell over the island recently with the death of an Italian DJ, known as DJ Godzi. He was only 35 years old. This sad event happened on a Friday night, stretching into Saturday morning. Police are looking into what happened. The details around his death are not clear, and his family believes he was killed.
Many knew him as DJ Godzi, but his name was Michele Noschese. Before he spun records, he chased dreams on a different kind of stage: the football pitch. Young Michele trained with big Italian clubs like Benevento and Napoli. He even played in Italy’s third division, Serie C, for a team called Cavese. He was making his mark. But fate had other plans. Injuries, especially one to his knee, forced him to leave the game he loved. His journey took a new turn, leading him from green fields to dance floors.
For ten years, Noschese made Ibiza his home. He became a fixture in the house and tech-house music scene. Italian news, quoting Spain’s ‘Marca’ newspaper, reports that the police were called to his home. Neighbors had complained about noise from a party. This call led to a clash. Guests at the party and agents from the Guardia Civil, Spain’s police force, got into a confrontation.
His family did not wait to act. They quickly filed a complaint with the Spanish authorities. The public prosecutor’s office in Naples, Italy, has also stepped in. They asked for the Spanish police agents to be investigated. The charge they seek is involuntary manslaughter.
Michele Noschese’s father, Giuseppe Noschese, spoke to ‘La Repubblica’ newspaper. His words cut deep, full of grief and anger. “My son died while he was held by the Spanish police,” he said. “They massacred him. Now, we need justice.” His plea echoes the pain of a family seeking answers for a life cut short, a life that began with football dreams and ended under mysterious circumstances.
