Blue Prince isn’t your typical speedrun game. This puzzle title is known for truly taxing your brain. So, it might surprise you to hear it was a highlight at the recent Summer Games Done Quick 2025 event. People really put their minds to the test in a fast-paced challenge.
Normally, a speedrun means finishing a game as quickly as possible. For Blue Prince, you might imagine racing to “Room 46” to beat the game. Luckily, players didn’t need to play for quite that long. The rules for this competition were pretty unique. Contestants tackled a special “B Quest Bingo” mode.
How Blue Prince Speedrunning Works
This unique mode changes how you think about winning. Here’s how the game board worked:
- Before starting, players saw a 9×5 bingo board. It looked a lot like the house map inside the game itself.
- Each square on the board held a different task. These could be anything from unlocking an east-facing door to upgrading a room five times.
- The higher up a row was, the tougher the missions became. This matches how the game gets harder as you go.
- Completing a task ticked off its bingo square. Each player had a color (red or blue). If both players cleared a square, it turned white. The first player to connect their colored squares in a path from the bottom to the finish line won the game.
- Players didn’t have to finish the entire game. They could play as many rounds as needed to complete the bingo board.
This setup turned the competition into a thrilling battle of wits. Players had to completely rethink their strategy. The goal wasn’t just to finish the game. Instead, they focused on planning how to clear the bingo missions efficiently. Success relied on sharp thinking, smart use of resources, and even a bit of luck with how rooms appeared.
