The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place from February 19th to March 9th, with the Indian cricket team set to begin their campaign on February 20th. Team India is placed in Group A alongside Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand. Their first match will be against Bangladesh in Dubai, followed by a clash with defending champions Pakistan on February 23rd in Dubai. The Indian team will then face New Zealand in their third and final group stage match on March 2nd in Dubai.
Team India’s Squad and Captaincy
Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the captain of Team India for the Champions Trophy. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have also been included in the 15-member team. Bumrah’s fitness is still under question, with chief selector Ajit Agarkar stating that his condition will be assessed by the BCCI medical team in early February.
Notable Inclusions and Exclusions
Mohammed Shami has returned to the Indian ODI team after 14 months, while Mohammad Siraj has been excluded from the team. Arshdeep Singh has been given a chance in Siraj’s place. Washington Sundar and Hardik Pandya have been included as all-rounders, with Kuldeep Yadav also making the cut. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included in the ODI team for the first time.
