LONDON: Vegetable prices in the UK hit a 40-year high, with prices of various vegetables rising by 30 to 60 percent since the start of the year.

According to British media, the prices of various vegetables including onions, carrots and potatoes in the UK have reached a 40-year high.

Potato prices have increased by 60% and carrot prices by 37.5% since the beginning of the year.

British media say supply chains have been affected by bad weather in the UK, with the price of olive oil rising 46.4% over the past 12 months, while the price of sugar has risen 46.4%.

According to the British Bureau of Statistics, the price of eggs increased by 37% and the price of flour by 30% during 12 months.
