The Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis will once again host a Challenger after 10 years

The Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis (BALTC) will host an ATP Challenger Tour tournament ten years after the last precedent, informed the Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) this Friday.

The competition, the third of that circuit in the country so far this year, will be held from April 24 to 30 with points for the world ranking and will be televised by TyC Sports. According to what the organization reported, the contest will be in category 50. The Challenger Tour has held two tournaments in 2023 at Club Nautico Hacoaj, both won in January by Juan Manuel Cerúndolo from Buenos Aires.

Last season, Argentina hosted six openers in the category, a record number for the country, and in all cases there was a local champion: Santiago Rodríguez Taverna (Tigre), Camilo Ugo Carabelli (Tigre II), Francisco Comesaña (Corrientes and Buenos Aires ), Nicolás Kicker (Villa María, Córdoba) and Juan Manuel Cerúndolo (Buenos Aires).

The “Cathedral” of Buenos Aires tennis will return to the second professional circuit after the 2013 tournament, which was won by the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas with victory against the local Facundo Argüello in the final.
