An armed man leaves three dead and eleven injured in two schools in Brazil

At least two teachers and a student have died and eleven other people have been injured in an attack carried out this Friday por an armed man who has shot at two schools in the Brazilian municipality of Aracruz and is currently on the run.

The attacks have occurred specifically against the Primo Bitti State Primary and Secondary School (EEEFM) and the private school of Praia de Coqueiral. First, the assailant invaded the state school with a pistol and shot several times in the staff room. Two of them were killed instantly and at least nine others were injured.

The attacker then left the place in a car and headed for the Praia de Coqueiral private school, where he killed a student and injured two other people, according to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense of the state of Espírito Santo, Colonel Marcio Celante.

The individual was dressed in camouflage and with his face covered to make his identification difficult. by the cameras of the centers, Celante has confirmed, before announcing a regional search and capture operation against the assailant.

Later, the president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has transferred his condolences on Twitter for a tragedy that he has called "foolish", and has shown its support to the authorities in the investigation, as well as to the community of both schools.

For his part, the governor of Espírito Santo, Renato Casagrande, thanked Lula for his message of support and confirmed that the state security authorities had hunted down the perpetrator of the attack.

"We are outraged by such cowardice and are working to elucidate the motivations. The Government team is on the scene assisting the victims and their families"Casagrande said on his Twitter profile.

Likewise, the governor of Espírito Santo has declared three days of official mourning in the state "as a sign of pain for the irreparable losses".
