Football Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo Creates NFTs for Binance

Celebrities in the crypto world

Ronaldo is the most followed person on Instagram, with 459 million followers. Ronaldo is a five-time FIFA Player of the Year and has scored more than 770 goals in his career. The Portuguese is a billionaire and only 37 years old.

Fan reaction to the news has been largely positive. However, a few were less enthusiastic about the news, calling NFTs “scam” and “worthless nonsense

Ronaldo’s Binance deal comes just weeks after the company announced it was sponsoring musician The Weeknd’s upcoming world tour. In addition, the tour is sponsored by an NFT collection and a $2 million donation to The Weeknd’s XO Humanitarian Fund

Ironically, all of these celebrity deals came about when Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao tweeted a week ago that his company had enabled expensive sponsorship opportunities such as “Super Bowl ads” and “stadium naming rights.” Thus, Binance continues to make huge spending despite a very underperforming crypto market.
