The law to buy prisoner sentences! What is reality? Saudi officials said

Riyadh: Colonel Bandar al-Khurrami, a spokesman for the Saudi prison, has denied reports that the remaining prisoners were pardoned in exchange for money.

According to Arab media, news was circulating about the Gulf state of Saudi Arabia that the Saudi government has enacted a law to buy the sentences of prisoners, under which the remaining amount of prisoners will be pardoned.

Calling the news circulating on social media untrue, Col. Dr. Bandar Al-Khurrami, a spokesman for the prison administration, said there were no plans yet to buy the remaining term of the inmates.

It was claimed on social media that the prisoner would be released after paying 18,000 riyals per year for the period he was serving.

According to the report, this law will be applied to those prisoners who have been treated very well in the jail and the nature of their crime is not serious and at the same time their mother tongue is not Arabic.
