Aude: CO2 sensors in the classrooms

Nearly 19,000 classes are currently closed due to the Covid-19. Teachers are calling for the installation of CO2 sensors in schools. In Bram, in the Aude, all the classes of the two primary schools are equipped with them.

Since the end of November, a CM2 class from the municipality of Bram (Aude) has a new one: a sensor to measure air pollution. “There are two indicators, the CO2 rate and the particle rate. When it rings, it’s because the air quality is bad and you need to ventilate”, Bernard explains Ferasse, teacher and director of the elementary school.

The city of Bram ordered 15 sensors at 65 euros each for the two establishments of the municipality. It is difficult to say if they have reduced the number of contaminations, but one thing is certain: “This has allowed the involvement of young people in the management of the health crisis”, says Claudie Faucon-Mejean, mayor (PS) from the community. The children have understood all the interest of the sensors and the device reassures the families.
