Rahkeem Cornwall’s useful 63-run innings for the seventh wicket between Kyle Myers and Jason Holder helped the West Indies save the continuation on Tuesday on the third day of Test 1 against Sri Lanka. However, in the opening game of the two-game series, the team is about to fall behind by a large margin in the first innings.
Only 38 overs could be played on the third day due to rain. In response to Sri Lanka’s 386, the West Indies scored 224 of nine and the team is 162 runs behind in the first inning.

The West Indies started the day with 113 races for six wickets. Myers and Holder kept Sri Lanka away from opening hour success. Captain Dimuth Karunaratne ended Myers’ 45 innings with a catch off halftime pitcher Dhananjay de Silva (1 of 11).
After a while, Holder (36) was led by Praveen Jayavrikrama. Cornwall became Suranga Lakmal’s first victim in the after-lunch match. Batting at No. 10, he scored 39 runs. As soon as it came out, the game had to be stopped due to rain that could not be resumed. Jayavikrama and Ramesh Mendis took three windows each for Sri Lanka.
