Tens of thousands without power in Washington and Oregon; 2 dead per tree

A strong storm system in the Pacific that triggered mudflows in areas of California affected by wildfires also hit Washington state and Oregon on Sunday, threatening coastal flooding and causing power outages that affected tens of thousands of people in the Pacific Northwest.

Two people were killed when a tree fell on a vehicle in the Seattle area. Eastside Fire & Rescue responded to the scene of the fatalities near Preston, Washington, which is about 25 miles east of Seattle.
